Get to know Miss Abbey:
Abbey has trained at AE since 2015 (back when it was still called Streetstars!) and she has gradually worked her way up from student, to Headgirl and now, teacher.
You will often find her running around the academy getting extra jobs done, managing the Headgirls and even behind the camera on our social media accounts too!!
Where did she train?
Abbey has trained at AE since 2015 and has now taken on a teaching role after years of experience volunteering as Headgirl of the academy & training with the multiple amazing teachers of AE (in sessions at the academy, school clubs & holiday camps!) to officially become part of the team. Additionally, she adds to the dance school with different areas of expertise, such as gaining an online certification in social media marketing to further develop the AE socials, as she also contributes to behind the scenes tasks, as part of the admin team.
What is her biggest achievement/experience in the industry?
“My greatest achievement is transforming from the shy, quiet child that attended Streetstars, to a more confident, organised member of the AE staff. I would say that growing into a capable teacher is one of the greatest things I have ever achieved in dance – other than improving my skillset as a dancer, of course!”
“A memorable moment that stood out for me personally is my first AE annual show as both student & teacher! To perform is one thing, but to watch the dancers you have coached & see them having the time of their lives on stage is entirely different!!”
What do you love about AE?
Abbey eats, sleeps and breathes AE 24/7!! She states that the thing she loves most about AE is the family atmosphere, where everyone loves and cares for each other so much! The members of the academy (past and present) have all grown and improved together and it has certainly made the students friends for life!
Why dance is important to Miss Abbey…
Dance can release all of the emotions of everyday life, whether they are positive or negative, dance always manages to make her feel relaxed and calm. Over the years, she has learnt to channel her emotions into her dancing and she truly believes that it has helped her grow as a person. She is incredibly thankful to the art of dance.
