Get to know Miss Abi:

Abi is the director of AE Performing Arts Academy. AE has been her passion and her first baby for over 10 years. FUN FACT! It used to be called Street Stars but when she turned 21 she decided to rebrand and completely change the name.

Although she runs the dance school, she is still heavily involved in the teaching. She mainly teaches the advanced inters and seniors, and she also has a handful of private lessons each week!

Abi lives her life around AE, and it is now a part of her, alongside all of the staff and students. She prides herself on keeping the dance school a family environment, even now bringing along her own daughter to lessons.

The future of the AE students is huge and she hopes to be running for another 15 years!!

Where did she train?

Abi originally started her dance training from her school dance teacher Kay Holdsworth, who was trained at LAINE. She pushed Abi in every area of the industry. Abi then went on to audition at Phil Winston’s Theatre Works and was successful. She completed an intense 3 years and she states that she will never forget her training!

Abi then furthered her training by attending endless amounts of professional workshops with the most fabulous choreographers, including Brian Friedman!

What is her biggest achievement/experience in the industry?

“I mean, I think it’s extremely obvious! The wonderful established dance school I now own, with over 200 students!!”

“Witnessing my very own students go and train and then work professionally is the best achievement I could wish for!”

“I have had many amazing experiences in the industry, however in my heart my greatest experiences will always be with Rock Challenge, this shaped who I am today!”

What do you love about AE?

Abi answered, “The family atmosphere”. Walking into each class and seeing every single teacher treat those dancers like their own, is what she loves about AE.

It’s her happy place – we dance more, worry less, always!!

Why dance is important to Miss Abi…

Abi said that dance feels like the only thing she really knows how to do. No matter how she is feeling, she knows dance will only ever have a positive impact on her.

Dance isn’t judged by a piece of paper, it’s judged by the amount of happiness it brings.

Random fact!

Miss Abi just loves to snack, especially in and around the dance school. She can often be found wandering from class to class with a blue bag of Doritos and a Twix (just in case any of you want to buy her snacks…)! But if we are talking about proper food, Miss Abi really loves a Chinese.
