Roles of the Headgirls…

- Make lists… lots… and lots… of *helpful!* lists for Miss Abi!!
- Hand out new student forms
- Take photos and videos of the academy to use for our socials
- Help teachers in lessons as and when needed
- Cover classes as and when needed
- Manage the permission slips and payments for show during the run-up to our annual and summer shows!
- Be guides and role models to the AE students – always ready to answer a question (or find someone who can answer any questions they can’t!)
- Be an extra set of reliable eyes & ears around the academy to help out the staff
This is just a few of the many, many jobs that come with being the Headgirls of AE!
The girls work alongside the AE staff, mainly Miss Abi (Director of AE) and Miss Abbey (Socials Manager & helper for all things Admin) to get any jobs done accurately and efficiently!!
Roles of the Assistant Teachers…
Our assistant teachers are sometimes voluntary and other times chosen. These girls help the staff within the lesson to care for the children, keep their focus and ensure the lesson is running smoothly. They may be useful to take children to and from the toilet, help teach a child who is struggling how to do a move or even just things as simple as filming dances for the teacher, to send to the dancers later.
We are so thankful for our helpers and we do appreciate all the time and effort you put into AE!

Lisa Longbottom – Headgirl & Assistant Teacher
Lisa is currently studying dance at Leeds City College. She loves how everyone interacts with each other at AE and how we are one big family. Dance is important to Lisa as it allows her to express emotions that she cannot talk about and it has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember!

Maddison Burnett – Headgirl & Assistant Teacher
Maddison is currently studying Law, Psychology and English Language at Trinity Sixth Form in Halifax. Her favourite thing about AE is how it focuses on building kind, inclusive dancers whilst also encouraging them to be the best versions of themselves.
Dance means a lot to her because it has allowed her to meet new people who now are some of her closest friends.
FUN FACT – Maddison has watched the tv show ‘Friends’ from start to finish at least 5 times.

Kiera Midgley – Assistant Teacher & Holiday Camp Worker
Kiera is currently studying dance at Leeds City College. She loves how warm and welcoming AE is. Everyone is friendly, supportive and makes you feel like you belong from the moment you walk in – and that positive atmosphere is just as strong at the holiday camps too!
Dance means a lot to her because it is something she has grown up with and she can’t imagine her life without it. It’s her passion and something she wants to continue doing in the future. Being in an environment like this makes that dream feel even more achievable!
FUN FACT – Kiera learned her first dance trick (an aerial) at the age of 9!
Lilly Brear – Assistant Teacher
Lilly attends Trinity Academy and is currently studying Health and Social Care. She loves how everyone is so kind and helpful at AE. She stated “it has become a big piece of my heart as I have been coming here since I was little!”. Dance is important to Lilly Because it is not only really fun but it has boosted her confidence and opened up lots of opportunities for her. One of them being the 2024 Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime. Another huge opportunity dance has given me is being able to help younger children start their own dance journey.
FUN FACT – Lilly absolutely loves making TikToks, especially with her dance friends! She wants you all to go follow us at @ae_academy and their own ae inters’ group account @dance.icons41 !!
